Our work spans operational and technical challenges, organisational dynamics, decision-making and interpersonal relationships. What connects these seemingly different areas is the belief that a problem is rarely as simple as it first appears.
Often, what is missing is not another answer, but another way of seeing the situation.
This is reflected in the way we begin our work.
We don't assume that our first perspective is the right one. We listen to the people involved, understand the context, and allow the problem to reveal itself from multiple positions. Our approach can be expressed in two movements.
is how we enter an organisation
is how we move forward
Finding practical opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Helping families and businesses navigate differences in perspective, conflict and generational transition.
The common thread is simple: See the problem differently. Understand it deeply. Then get it done.
“I am an engineer by training, an MBA in HR by education, and an operator by experience.”
I have spent the last two decades working in and around the cement industry, particularly mining, production and logistics. Being born and brought up in this environment has given me more than technical and operational experience — I have developed an instinct for how the industry works and, equally importantly, how the people within it think.
One of the projects I am particularly proud of was taking over and successfully delivering the first container-based fly ash rake — an example of the kind of practical, multi-dimensional problems I have spent much of my career solving.
Over time, I have found myself increasingly drawn towards advisory work. I enjoy understanding complicated situations, looking at them from different perspectives, finding what is actually causing the problem, and then figuring out what can realistically be done about it.
That instinct extends beyond business. Having grown up in a family business, I have also seen first-hand how differences in values, opinions and generations can become business problems — and how business problems can become family problems. It is one of the reasons I am now particularly interested in family-business conflicts and succession.
I don't believe in arriving with an answer before understanding the question.
I start by stepping back, looking at the problem from different positions, questioning assumptions and trying to understand the people and systems involved. Then I focus on what actually matters and work towards something practical.
Establishing Utopia has been one of the most rewarding things I have done.
My educational philosophy is simple: education should expand a person's possibilities, not define them in advance. I believe children learn best when they have the freedom to explore, question, make mistakes and discover what they are capable of, rather than simply being fitted into a predetermined idea of success.
Utopia is an attempt to create an environment around that belief — one where curiosity, independence and the freedom to think matter as much as what is taught.
I have been running for four years and have covered around 9,000 km so far. Running has become another way of understanding performance, discipline, adaptation and long-term progress.
For more than a year, I have also been coaching runners and currently work with 15+ athletes, helping each develop according to their own abilities, circumstances and goals. Seeing them progress has become one of the most rewarding extensions of my own running journey.
Reading and listening across disciplines has always been a large part of how I learn. I am naturally curious about people, systems, philosophy, business, science and performance, and I enjoy connecting ideas that normally remain in separate compartments.
Parallax is the natural next step in this journey.
It brings together what I have learned through two decades of operating, building, coaching and observing.
